Compress video for email.
Gmail allows 25 MB and Outlook 20 MB, but attachments grow by about a third when an email is sent. Compress the video here to a size that actually goes through, in your browser, without uploading it.
Free for files up to 100 MB. No sign-up, no watermark. Pro removes the limit for $4.99 a month.
Runs in your browser. Your file is processed on this device and never uploaded.
How to email a video that's too large
Pick your email service's size.
Choose 18 MB for Gmail or Yahoo, or 14 MB for Outlook.com or iCloud Mail. These leave room for the email's encoding overhead.
Compress the video.
Drop it in and click Compress. You get an MP4 that plays in any mail app or on any computer.
Attach and send.
Attach the new MP4 like any file. If the person needs the full-quality original, send a share link alongside it.
Why a 24 MB video won't send in Gmail
Email attachments are encoded as text before they're sent, which makes them about 33 to 37 percent larger. The size limit applies to the encoded email, not to the file on your computer.
So a 25 MB limit really fits a file of about 18 MB, and a 20 MB limit fits about 14 MB. Above the limit, Gmail swaps the attachment for a Google Drive link and iCloud offers Mail Drop, which some recipients can't open.
| Email service | Attachment limit | Largest video to attach |
|---|---|---|
| Gmail | 25 MB | About 18 MB |
| Yahoo Mail | 25 MB | About 18 MB |
| Outlook.com | 20 MB | About 14 MB |
| iCloud Mail | 20 MB | About 14 MB |

Questions about this tool.
What is the largest video I can attach in Gmail?
About 18 MB. Gmail's limit is 25 MB, but encoding adds roughly a third to the attachment's size.
Why does Outlook say my attachment is too large?
Outlook.com allows 20 MB including encoding, so files above about 14 MB can fail. Compress to 14 MB to be safe.
Will the video still play for the person I send it to?
Yes. The output is H.264 MP4, which opens on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android without extra software.
Is the video uploaded anywhere?
No. Compression happens in your browser on your device. The only upload is when you send the email yourself.
Prefer a desktop app?
The Mac and Windows app works offline and saves results beside your original. It includes 5 free conversions, then costs $1 once per computer, separate from Pro.
